Additive Manufacturing (course 3d printing) enables rapid developments ranging from prototyping techniques, to full-fledged change techniques that can be applied in a production environment. The layer-wise building products offers advantages in speed, cost, and freedom of design 3d printing. It becomes possible to create complex, integrated designs in a single production step. Through continuous developments in materials technology portfolio, Additive manufacturing is an increasingly attractive alternative, especially for small series of complex parts.

    you can simplify a structure by feature integration;

Course material

An extensive English syllabus with images and brief texts. Because the field is still very much in development, the course material will be updated continually to the latest state of technical affairs. The course will be given in English. Participants are invited to contribute their own parts to discuss them as a practical case study during the course itself.

This course will take place at Mikrocentrum in Eindhoven.

Day 1: State of the Art Additive Manufacturing and its Materials
  • Introduction of AM technologies and global developments
  • In dept view of most important metal AM processes
  • In dept view of common metal Materials for AM and their mechanical properties
  • Identification of business cases and economic potential for AM
Day 2: Process deep dive and Design for AM
  • Introduction of most important Process Parameters
  • Understand major process possibilities and restrictions
  • Deducing of Design rules from acquired knowledge
  • Interactive Design study on exemplified part
  • Future prospects of AM

Tobias KlimKnipselkait studied mechanical engineering focusing on medical technology at RWTH University Aachen. He worked at Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in the field of process development for Additive Manufacturing processes of resorbable implant materials. Since 2016, he directs the areas of consulting and testing facilities for Aconity3D GmbH, which in addition to consulting, material distribution and implementation of customer-specific Laser Beam Melting solutions offers on-demand part manufacturing. Beside his work in consultancy, Tobias Klimkait is in charge of managing different development projects. Main focus of his development work is process and material development for Laser Beam Melting.
