About the Injection moulding 1 course

After completing the course, you will be familiar with the key properties of thermoplastics that are relevant for processing. You will also have learned about the components and operation of the injection moulding machine and mould, and you will be familiar with the various steps of the injection moulding cycle. Moreover, you will be able to independently initiate a simple injection moulding process and prevent common process malfunctions.

Theory: General Plastic Knowledge (50% of the time)

  • The properties of plastics and commonly used thermoplastics
  • Identifying plastics
  • Understanding processing aspects
  • Understanding the behavior of plastics during heating, melting, expansion, and shrinkage
  • Working with injection moulding machines
  • Walking through the injection moulding process
  • Working with the injection mould
  • General construction of moulds, structure, gating systems, hot runner systems, cooling, and maintenance

Practice (50% of the time)

The practical part extensively covers:

  • Installing and removing moulds
  • Starting up and operating the injection moulding machines
  • Recognizing the influences of parameters on the process
