There are six topics that are high on the agenda at Mikrocentrum. And, of course, also with the members of our platform for the high-tech and manufacturing industry. From these six themes, we create the technology of the future. We do this together. By being the meeting place for the high-tech and manufacturing industry, letting the right people meet each other and thinking along and ahead about how to develop and share knowledge.
Innovation drives the Dutch economy. At the same time, the days of monopolising an idea, technology or innovation are over. Not because everything has already been invented, but because developing a new technology or product has simply become too complex to achieve alone. Competition is shifting from company to ecosystem level; competitors are becoming competitors.
The numbers don't lie. Nor do observations, model calculations and climate reports. Climate & sustainability is a topic that makes an increasingly emphatic appeal - and rightly so - to business, knowledge institutes, educational institutions and society as a whole.
To meet Paris commitments, we as a country are switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Within many high-tech ecosystems, this is a hot topic. Existing technologies such as solar and wind power are being fully developed and optimised, while renewable batteries and energy storage are gaining a foothold.
More and more countries are introducing regulations for marketing and keeping medical devices on the market. However, these regulations are becoming increasingly complex and all kinds of standards and laws change regularly.
Agri & food. What a small country is big at. Despite a wonderful track record that the Netherlands has been building for centuries, this sector is still under pressure. Food certainty, quality and environmental impact require technological innovation from high-tech and manufacturing industries.
Electric driving. Autonomous driving. Connected driving. Today, we look very differently at the way people and goods move around. New, exciting innovations are moving faster and faster from controlled test environments to public roads to prove themselves in terms of safety, comfort and sustainability.
