When designing an industrial adhesive connection, there is an increasing demand, due to national and international regulations, to guarantee its quality. After completing the Adhesive specialist course (EAS), you will be capable of controlling and modifying process parameters of the adhesive process, as well as creating work instructions. Additionally, you will supervise the team of Adhesive Operators (EAB).

About the course Adhesive specialist (EAS)
This course is conducted in collaboration with the Adhesive Academy and consists of 3 modules in which both theory and practice are examined. Successfully completing the practical, written, and oral exams entitles you to the European Adhesive Specialist (EAS) diploma.
Upon obtaining the diploma, you will be authorized and capable of:
- Giving instructions to implementers of adhesive connections (see adhesive technician, EAB)
- Creating work instructions
- Contributing to quality assurance of the adhesive process
- Managing the planning, organization, and control of adhesive work
- Recognizing deviations and knowing how to deal with them
- Controlling and modifying process parameters of the adhesive process
- Having certain authorities as described in the DIN 2304 standard
Duration of Course
15-day sessions spread over 3 weeks, including practical sessions and exams (total 120 hours) over a period of 3 months.
Practical Sessions
The practical sessions are divided over the three weeks. A number of adhesive connections are made individually, in pairs, and in groups. These connections are performed on aluminum, steel, various plastics, rubber, glass, and wood. A series of test specimens are made to be destructively tested using shear testing or peel testing. Surface treatment, curing and test temperature, overlap length, adhesive layer thickness, and adhesive part stiffness are varied. The findings are compared to theoretical expectations and discussed collectively.
Assessments
Each week is assessed with a written test consisting of multiple-choice and/or open-ended questions. The practical sessions also conclude with an assessment, including a series of individually bonded test pieces for peel or shear testing and a research assignment. The entire course is assessed with an oral exam. Upon successful completion of all assessments, you will receive the EWF/NIL 662 European Adhesive Specialist diploma.
