What will you learn during the training Communication for engineers - part 1?
This training will support you in communicating effectively with co-workers, clients and your manager. With the help of Leary’s Rose interaction model, you will gain insight in different communication processes and your preferred role within. Leary’s Rose is a schematic reproduction of different ways of behaving and the effect it has on other people. Having insight in communication processes, you can consciously choose to adopt the most effective behaviour in order to improve your success rate when pursuing your goals. This training will discuss topics such as:
- levels of communication
- interpersonal and intrapersonal communication
- asking questions
- verbal and non-verbal communication
- giving feedback
In a safe environment, you will be challenged to experiment with new behaviour, in several assignments and exercises. A professional training actor will simulate certain situations where you can put your learnings into practice and improve them even further. Throughout this training, doing and experiencing is key and your personal goals are at the heart of the training. On beforehand, you will be invited to fill out an intake form and share your personal goals with the trainer.

- levels of communication
- listening (active listening, deep listening)
- asking questions (different types of questions, when and how to use them)
- the power of silence and non-verbal communication
- motivational and developmental feedback (asking, giving and receiving feedback)
- assertiveness in communication
- presentation skills and knowledge transfer (communicating with impact: how to make a clear message so your colleagues truly understand what you mean)
- action planning
